FISH WINNIPEG FUNDRAISER SET TO GO FOR AUGUST 17TH.!

Water levels on the Red and Assiniboine rivers in Winnipeg are dropping slowly, allowing organizers to finish off the final touches of the 14th Annual Fish Winnipeg Media/Corporate Challenge.August 17th in at The Forks in downtown Winnipeg.

Co Chair Don Lamont says the fishing should be spectacular this year if reports from the young anglers who are currently participating in the program are any indication. Fish Winnipeg head instructor Tyler has been putting these keen young anglers on some master Angler fish including some monster channel catfish.

LOCATIONS:  They have shore fished at Omands Creek, Bourkevale Park by St. James Collegiate, Bruce Park, and Midwinter Park.  Midwinter Park had a lot of snags but the location produced a lot of fish.

The Fish Winnipeg program is in its fourteenth year. Over that time $300,000 has been raised and the program continues to grow providing a unique opportunity for youth to experience the wonderful world of fishing. In addition, through the generous support of the Fisheries Enhancement Fund, every child that has participated in the program has received a brand new rod and reel combination as well as youth fishing book written by Manitoba award winning writer John Toone.

Winnipeg's corporate community has supported the Fish Winnipeg Media/Corporate Challenge and has helped deliver UAP youth programs and activities targeted at increasing the level of urban angling in Winnipeg. In doing so, the associated social and community benefits from providing a healthy, self-esteem building outdoor leisure activity are being realized.
